Hey all, devs, moderators... et al....

As a CEO of an industrial corp, trying our best to make money in the wonderful world of Eve, I've had to resort to using third party programs to track our profits.

I'm educated as an accountant in the real world. Although I am not too fond of the profession and bailed out about 8 years ago, the knowledge stays with me.

So... even with all these wonderful in game filters, it is not feasably possible to gather information from my corp wallet to create a decent profit and loss account. Not because the filters don't work, no, well mostly no, but more because the quantity of transactions going through said wallet prohibit any real data collection.

I'm wondering if there are any plans to add any decent accounting tools to the game. Also I am curious as to how other corporations get around this issue.

I have a system at the moment where I track assets between two dates and with simple math I am able to ascertain the increase in net assets due to either profits or investors moving their shares, but it would be really nice to be able to produce a decent set of accounts with categories such as office rental, broker fees, transaction taxes, and a whole host of other types of transactions. Maybe even a system which allows me to group 'types' of products or transactions, with the flexibility of period lengths.

At the moment my system is complete in that no transactions are missed and there is no leakage of profits or losses, but many of the transactions are lost in the melting pot which is basically wallet balance now less wallet balance then. Short of spending 23 hours a day watching the wallet and tracking every transaction in both the Transactions tab and Journal tab, I don't see a way to accurately report where the profits are coming from using in game tools. This makes any form of management accounting or informed decision making very difficult indeed.

Would be interested to see a dev blog on the issue at some point too. I know most people are in this game for the pew pew, or whatever the 12 year olds call it these days, but some of us mature players very much like the other aspects of this virtual world we reside in.

Kind regards
Mattduk

The in game wallet tools are a joke. Most of the categories you can filter on are not used, and even if they were, the searching tools are insultingly rudimentary. Can we at least get a wallet export function? Then we could use external tools to process the wallet data. EVE Search - Accounting Tools (IN GAME) (9)

If you want a Dev to take note and do something, it's important to make direct suggestions, be concise, and also generally it's a good idea not to insult the game. (i.e. "insultingly rudimentary") Just a hint. =)EVE Search - Accounting Tools (IN GAME) (13)

I agree on the need to export wallet data. As much data as possible: date, type, the message, the amount, and what I personally would like is if someone is filling a buy/sell order that it carries the order ID as well. This way we can take that to watch trading, profits, and so much more. I believe it would be best to export automaticly though, like the combat logs, this way we can do real-time analysis of it, unlike the market data.

Even better let the data be downloaded from the website as XML like character data is, then 3rd party tools can be written to do whatever processing is needed and keep themselves updated in real time.

EVE clearly needs SAP integration.
But I'd settle for an 'export as CSV' for the wallet, transations and stuff.

I second this motion! We need the export data at the least!

An export from date to date would be good, then we can make our own tools.

Last time i checked, I'm not the one getting paid to do the Dev's job. If they paid me or even let me do their job, the Chimera and drone/fighter problem/interfacing would have been fixed a long time ago.

If he wants to insult the game, it's his problem. He should not be afraid or restricted to speak his mind out.

Oh and even if he proposed some idea's, Dev's rarely answer threads. It took something like 1 year to have a Dev answer the 'Caldari Carrier' thread and it was for a 'It might be fix...'
