Biography
He was born on August 27, 1969, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico, as César Felipe Millán Favela.
Cesar grew up working with animals on a farm in Sinaloa. Millan spent so much time with the dogs that locals called him ”el perrero” (the dog boy).
At the age of 21, Cesar came to the United States illegally through the US-Mexico border.
His first job was at a dog grooming store.
A few years later, Cesar opened the Dog Psychology Center in LA.
Actress Jada Pinkett Smith was one of Cesar’s first supporters and clients.
Dog Whisperer
On September 13, 2004, his reality series, Dog Whisperer, started on National Geographic. On ”Dog Whisperer,” Millan works to rehabilitate dogs with behavior problems.
The series had an estimated audience of 11 million viewers per week. The show ended in 2012.
In 2005, he received the Michael Landon Award for Inspiration to Youth Through Television.
In 2006, Millan published the book “Cesar’s Way: The Natural, Everyday Guide to Understanding and Correcting Common Dog Problems” with Melissa Jo Peltier.
In 2007, Cesar officially launched the Cesar Millan Foundation to provide financial support to animal organizations and shelters engaged in rehabilitating and rescuing abandoned animals.
In 2008, Cesar played himself in “The Finger in the Nest” episode of the television series Bones.
Also in 2008, he published a book titled – “Dog Whisperer with Cesar Millan: The Ultimate Episode Guide” by Cesar with Melissa Jo Peltier.

In 2009, Millan became a United States citizen. In the same year, his book “A Member of the Family: Cesar Millan’s Guide to a Lifetime of Fulfillment With Your Dog” was released.
The Dog Psychology Center moved to Santa Clarita in 2009.
In April 2011, he made a guest appearance as a judge in the reality TV series ”The Apprentice.”
In 2014, Millan started the series Cesar 911.

According to TMZ, Millan was ordered to pay Ilusión $10k for monthly child support, a monthly spousal payment of $23k, and a one-time amount of $400k.
After he found out that his ex-wife planned to divorce him, Millan attempted suicide by drug overdose. Around the same time, he lost Daddy, a 16-year-old pit bull.
”I have never had a dog like Daddy,” Cesar said in an interview. ”I’ve been astounded by his intuition, consoled by his affection, and awed by his silent empathy.”
After surviving the overdose, Millan woke up three days later in a hospital’s psychiatric ward.
”I felt defeated, a big sense of guilt and failure,” he wrote on his website. ”I was at the lowest level I had ever been emotionally and psychologically.”

”Jahira came into my life at just the right time,” he told People. Millan added:”She was instrumental in helping me rebuild my life and my family after my divorce and break from the Dog Whisperer television show.”

Millan and Dar became engaged in April 2016 at the top of Mount Lycabettus.
”I wanted the proposal to be special and to surprise her, so I spent months planning our trip to Greece,” Cesar confessed.
